MP3 Friday: Twelfth Edition
It’s Friday, and you know what that means. Ready? OK!
- First up, Aquarium Drunkard has a pair of Donny Hathwaway MP3s, as well as five tracks from Lewis and Clarke. Sweet.
- My Old Kentucky’s Dodge this week posts two tracks from Dean and Britta, a group with a very interesting back story: “Dean Wareham, former lead of Galaxie 500 and Luna, met Britta Phillips when she auditioned for Luna in 2000. Britta used to provide the singing voice for the cartoon rocker JEM (JEM & the Holograms) and was a member of the band Belltower, she became the bassist for Luna. ” JEM?!?! Are you kiddin me? *Awesome!*
- Oliver Wang at soul-sides has the track “I Can’t Wait (Until I See My Baby’s Face),” first from Aretha Franklin, then from Dusty Springfield
- For fans of down-tempo electronic music (like me!), 3Hive has a track from Australia’s All India Radio
- You Can Take the Boy Out of Brooklyn has two tracks from the Manic Street Preachers. Let’s hear it for the nineties!
- Different Kitchen posts links to three different sets of free mixtapes. Go get em!
- RockInsider is in NYC, but listening to Thailand. She posts an MP3, as well as one from Grizzly Bear.
- For fellow fans of flashback punk out there, The Slats Rock Cleveland (that is, popular music site IRockCleveland posts an MP3 from Minneapolis’ The Slats.
- And last but certainly not not awesome, Chromewaves has a new MP3 from Midnight Movies.
Ok, enjoy the MP3s on your Zune! You know what’s interesting? MP3 Friday posts are always the most read on this site, but they always get the fewest comments. Anyways, have a great weekend everybody! Be sure to get out there and take pictures!
We’ve just completed a review of a low-end Zune case from Zuneone. The case is a generic Chinese made product. We found out that you can buy the same Zune case from 22Moo and other vendors for more than 60%….
Reverse Sync
If you have pictures, songs or videos on your Zune device from your own library (IE, not purchased from Zune Marketplace, preloaded in your device, or received via wireless sharing), you can reverse sync these. That is, using the Zune software, you can copy content from your Zune device to your PC. I made a little screenshot tutorial:
First, note how my PC’s “My Videos” folder is empty:
I’ve decided to take a recorded/transcoded episode of The Office from my Zune device (“More Awesomer”) back to my PC. First, I connect More Awesomer to my PC – using either a primary sync relationship or Guest Mode (either will work).
Then I click the sync icon (highlighted in yellow), and drag the content from More Awesomer.
I then click “copy from device” in the lower right hand corner – this status bar pops up:
When the video finishes, you’ll see “Copied from device” in the status column:
And finally, note how the video is now in my video folder:

Give it a shot - it’s actually pretty cool.
