Greetings from Montana - it’s still Friday somewhere right? And you know what that means: it’s time to load up your Zune with more free music. Ready?
- First up this week, go to I Rock Cleveland to get a 120 Days track.
- Celebrate summer with these 8 tracks from Mars Needs Guitars
- Check out these four tracks from Brooklyn Vegan: Rodrigo and Gabriela, The Cribs, and more.
- Chromewaves links to a Ryan Adams video, as well as a John Vanderslice MP3.
- Go get these two Ben Benjamin, mixing “electronic and traditional instrumentation with the emotive, optimistic songwriting” in this Scissorkick exclusive.
- And if you’re in a chill mood, GorillavsBear has a Kathy Diamond track that’ll suit you.
- ” If you love McCartney at his breeziest and poppiest, “Love Is Strange” is an absolute must listen.” get a track over at Aquarium Drunkard
- And speaking of taking music back a few years, Soul-sides has tracks from Grand Puba (1995); Debarge (1982); and Henry Mancini (1975).
- Celebrating Friday with me, YCTTBOB offers up a Wilco track.
- For fans of co-ed hip hop, this Different Kitchen post with an MP3 by Tha Deck.
- My new favorite: Nick Jaina - RockInsider has three tracks
- I also love Bishop Allen - you should too. You Ain’t No Picasso has an MP3
- And rounding out this week’s new music Friday, My Old Kentucky Blog has three tracks by The Blakes.
Ok, enjoy the free music and have a good weekend everybody!
Heading to NYC
In a few minutes I’ll be getting on a plane to NYC. If any readers are in the area and want to possibly meet up Thursday late afternoon/evening - drop a comment. We can find a coffee shop, exchange high-fives songs via wireless, and general what-have-yous. Hope to see you soon!
Zune-Arts has received an Honorable Mention in The Industrial Design Magazine 2007 Annual Design Review. From I.D.: “The site itself didn’t have a wow factor-the wow factor was the material in it.”
It’s cool for Zune-Arts to get a mention. Here’s my favorite video on Zune-arts to date:
<That’s probably because of Ratatat>
Around the Zune Community
I’m seeing a few interesting things going on in the Zune community that I thought I’d highlight:
- Generation Zune has a scan of the “Sync Pink” ad from Nylon

- The ‘corps hasn’t been updated in a while now - maybe they’re all busy with summer school?
To celebrate their one-year birthday, The Rama is wants to give you a Zune.- Our friends at the Sphere write about MSZuneFan, suggesting a few questions for me to ask him when we meet.
Ok, hope everybody had a good weekend!
Before I post this week’s NMF, I would like to say that I’m excited to hang out with MSZuneFan. While it’s not Zune that’s flying him here (our buddies at on10 are flying him), I’m really curious to meet such a dedicated Zune supporter. Anyways, without further ado, more free music for your Zune:
- First up this week, grab these two fun tracks from Brooklyn Vegan.
- My Old Kentucky Blog has two MP3s from Lexington, Kentucky band Petticoat, Petticoat.
- Bringing us the “anti-Summer Jam Song” Music for Robots posts a track by Funeral. And for those who would prefer a peppy song, check out this post.
- The Front rock Rockinsider. Never heard them before? Download them.
- Different Kitchen posts a link to the Ski Beatz Beatz, Rhymes & Samples mixtape.
- Ok, some of you might be too young to remember this, but do you remember that Biz Markie song “Just a Friend?” That song was something of a junior high anthem for me. Anyways, Soul-sides has the original track. It’s by the late Freddie Scott (RIP)
- Fans of Ladytron will (probably) love Client - Chromewaves has 2 tracks.
- Cool. There’s a New White Stripes track over at Fluxblog.
- Coffinberry has a track that will rock you, as it has Rocked Cleveland. Go download it!
- An Aquarium Drunkard has an MP3 of the Mountain Goats doing a reggae cover.
- And last but certainly not least, GorillavsBear has a Feist remix.
Enjoy the free music and have a great weekend everybody!
